Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take to receive my painting estimate?
After you request your free estimate, you will be contacted promptly by A Rated Painters™ to set up a date and time that is best for you. It is not required that you be present at the time of the estimate, you can give us the information that we need to get the estimate done for you at your convenience! Again, this is completely up to you. The approximate time for the actual estimate process itself depends on the size of the job. On average, it usually takes about one hour.
Our goal is to make the ENTIRE painting process as easy and comfortable for you as possible, from the time that your quote is given to you until all of your painting work is completed.
When will the painting begin on my home?
When your contract is signed and all of the work is agreed upon you will be scheduled for a date to have your job started. We pick up all of the materials and do all of the work for you so that you can continue about your daily routine while the painting project is underway. We understand that painting the interior or exterior of your home can cause an inconvenience and our painters are trained to be in and out of your home in a timely manner while also getting the job done right the first time!
Will you repair holes, cracks, water damage, etc. on the walls?
Our estimators will hand you a proposal with all of the work we will perform in detail. In most cases, all of the damage types to walls mentioned in the question above will be fixed. This is part of our prep phase before the painting begins. In more severe cases, we would recommend having a whole wall replaced. This however, is not common.
All of our painters have lots of experience delivering professional work in the Newton area for years. Much of this work has been done on homes built in the early 1900’s and earlier! With homes like these, it is best to trust a professional who has experience repairing this type of damage (especially those horsehair plaster walls!). Choosing the wrong painter can lead to more damage to your home. We use extreme caution and care for your home as if it were our own!
What kind of paint do you use?
Depending on the type of job, we will recommend a product for you to choose. Most of the time we use Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, or Behr products. The products we recommend are the best available on the market and we trust them to get the job done right the first time, providing the most durability and longevity. Some customers would rather use a different product than what we recommend and you can bring this up at the time of the estimate. In most cases, it is not a problem to use your own product unless we feel that the product is of too low quality. Low quality paint can lead to damage, especially on wood surfaces. We recommend using high quality, zero-voc and low-voc environmentally friendly paints that give off low/no odor and low/no toxicity.
Could you help me in choosing colors for my home?
A Rated Painters™ always provides free consultation on anything to do with painting your home, including picking colors. Choosing the color of your home can be difficult. We often debate whether we should go with something trendy, something neutral or something that fits our personality. Others will pick a color depending on what type of mood they want to set, especially for an interior paint job. The internet gives us many options for ideas on what colors to choose. Sherwin Williams has a great section on their website called Find & Explore Colors which can give you great tips and color ideas before you begin your painting project. You can browse through their 1,500+ colors which are organized by paint color family and collections. Also included on their website is the ColorSnap Visualizer which you can see how the colors look in a fixed scenario rather than just on a piece of paper.
